A global(x) journey is a strategic, seven- to ten-day experience where attendees of our local churches serve alongside our international and domestic partners to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people all over the world.

We call them global(x) journeys—not trips—because they’re so much more than a week of service. It starts when an attendee applies for a global(x) journey team and continues long after they return home. The preparation, relational connection, spiritual growth, perspective change, and inspired action that take place on a global(x) journey are remarkable. It impacts the team member’s life and the lives of others around them in ways they could never imagine. Yes, a trip is part of the process, but it's more than that.

Our staff team works hard to make sure our global(x) teams are well prepared to serve—logistically, relationally, and spiritually. Typically, teams meet on four to six separate occasions, often including a weekend retreat, before they travel. They share their stories with one another, bond relationally, learn about their partner organization, and plan the projects and details of their service opportunity.

Global(x) also offers the following support:

  1. A dedicated global(x) staff member, called a Journey Director, serves as liaison between our partners and the teams.

  2. A custom, online, leader-training platform (through Pathwright) to ensures our leaders are equipped to lead well.

  3. An online trip management platform (through ServiceReef) allows team members to create personal fundraising pages that enable them to receive donation funds, track tasks to be completed prior to travel, upload necessary documents, and communicate via email with their teams.

  4. Travel/medical insurance (through MissionSafe) is purchased for each team member; it covers them for the duration of their travel.

  5. An emergency call line is provided that connects the team leader with a live person for guidance 24 hours a day and alerts the global(x) staff of any unexpected issues.
