As our organization has grown, we have investigated and implemented a number of different organizational structures. As long as our organization operated from one campus, a traditional top-down line of authority system worked. When we opened additional campuses, our approach needed to change. We looked at different systems and settled on a matrix management model. In that model, the campus director is the manager for employees on that campus, but many employees have a dotted line responsibility to a multi-campus director, who acts as a consultant for a specific area of ministry. For example, the Waumba Land director at our Browns Bridge campus reports directly to the Browns Bridge campus director and receives dotted-line guidance from the multi-campus director for Waumba Land. This system ensures that we do what needs to be done to make Sundays happen and produce consistent results at all campuses.
