Fusion Programming FAQs

1. How is the programming structured?

Each gathering night is designed around four basic elements:
(1) Unstructured Interaction
(2) Vision for the Night
(3) Structured Interaction
(4) Vision for the Next Gathering.

Unstructured Interaction Every gathering begins with approximately 30 minutes for attendees to introduce themselves to each other as people are arriving. Our leaders and volunteers greet all attendees as they arrive, engage them in conversation, and try to make as many connections as possible.

Vision for the Night When a critical mass has gathered, one or both of the leaders will get the attendees attention and give a brief overview of the vision for Fusion and what the rest of the evening will be like.

Structured Interaction This is the primary part of the programming and can involve the use of a DVD clip, a trivia game, a service opportunity, etc. We also have the attendees break into smaller groups of six to eight people to have more conversation around the topic at hand guided by discussion questions that are provided for them. This creates the feel of a small group and, hopefully, encourages people to have deeper conversations and create greater connections.

Vision for the Next Gathering The leaders again gain the attention of the gathering to wrap up the night and talk a little bit about what they will be doing the next time they get together. This is also a great time to cast vision for people to take initiative in connecting with people outside the gathering nights and to announce any socials they may have planned for the group.

2. How do you develop the programming?

The development of our programming happens in four phases:
Phase 1 Ideation to come up with a theme
Phase 2 Brainstorming content and creative elements for each gathering night
Phase 3 Writing a first draft of the programming
Phase 4 Final review and editing
