As hard as it is to comprehend, one out of every three people in the world have never heard the message of Christ. In these countries, most have governments that restrict people’s access to information, many are antagonistic to Christianity, and 60% of the people are illiterate. In light of this, we have chosen to focus our efforts on the following strategies.
- Business as Mission (BAM): Business is a tool that God has given us to help reach the world. It creates wealth, a higher standard of living, and it is welcomed in almost every part of the world. When business is conducted by Biblical standards, it becomes an agent to expand God’s Kingdom. From the owner, to his or her employees, and beyond the walls of the company, lives are impacted and communities are being transformed through service projects, caring for the poor, and taking care of the needy. The following are two of our BAM strategies.
- Kingdom Business Workshops: These environments are designed to assist Christian business owners and leaders align their business with God’s purposes. During this workshop, they will learn what it means to run a Kingdom business and develop clear next steps to create environments where people can grow in their intimacy with God, establish a culture of community within the company, and impact the city around them.
- Microenterprise Development: We send business people from the U.S. to coach indigenous entrepreneurs on how to start small businesses and provide the initial capital for the business loans. globalX has helped facilitate the startup of more than 50 businesses.
- Orality: Because the literacy rate in much of the least-reached part of the world is low, we have chosen to leverage technology to grow God’s Kingdom through oral experiential learning. In 2007, through our partnership with T4Global (T4Global.org), we began facilitating transformational training among the Samburu people in Northern Kenya. By creating “mobile schools” (kits including solar powered MP3 players) these people now have access to helpful information concerning such things as hygiene, HIV/AIDS, and, most importantly, the life-changing message of the gospel.
- Justice and Mercy: “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.” Psalm 82:3 Through our partnership with selected outside organizations, we have an opportunity to work with the poor in Kenya and the orphaned in Cambodia and East Asia. It is our hope to tangibly demonstrate God’s love through service projects and education.
