Just a quick tip that I picked up last month from one of our IT guys about an AMAZING Mac program that’s so cool it’s not even fair. Couldn’t believe I’d never heard of it. Many of you may already have this but for everybody else, I needed to share. If you’re new to “teleport” and you’re a Mac user, this could change a lot of things!!

Teleport is a program that allows you to set up two separate Macs side-by-side and have them functionally operate with ONE mouse and ONE keyboard–basically as extensions of each other–almost as though they are the same computer. As long as they are both on the same wireless network, you can drag files between them, use your keyboard to type or use your mouse to control either one, AND even copy & paste text or other items from one to the other. So for a number of us here who have both a laptop and a desktop computer side by side at work, it only makes sense to have a program like this handy.

Teleport, like any freeware, can be a little buggy from time to time–but the practical uses for it are endless. It’s much easier than emailing yourself or using a jumpdrive over and over to transfer little files between your computers (ESPECIALLY if they’re already next to each other). You just install it on both computers, activate the program on each via your System Preferences, make the computers “trust” each other, and lay them out graphically the way you want them. Then it’s like magic. Best of all, it’s FREE! Check it out here: http://abyssoft.com/software/teleport/

What other techno tricks have you come across recently?
