Birthdays are important to kids. We want our small group leaders to remember their kid’s birthdays and take this opportunity to connect.
Two things that we do to encourage this:
1. Once a month we print out a list of the birthdays, print mailing labels, and give it to the coach. This makes it easy for them to remind small group leaders and they don’t have to go hunting for addresses.
2. We create birthday cards that reflect our environment. Our leaders don’t have to worry about shopping for cards and when a parent gets them in the mail, they know that it’s from their small group leader and their church.
Many of our small group leaders write cards to their kids on Sunday morning and drop them in a mailbox we’ve created for them. We take care of getting them in the mail that week.
Here are our birthday cards for this year:

Our small group leaders are busy! We know that they would never want to miss one of their kids’ birthdays, so we make try to make it easy for them.
What do you do to make it easy for your small group leaders to connect?

Hi Kendra,
Just wanted to tell you that I absolutely love reading what you have to say! Its really empowering and challenging. My problem is I keep marking them unread as I want to go over them in more detail and think through its meaning for my own teams but then you write another and I do the same thing over again! What a good problem to have…too much impot. Keep ‘em coming!

Hi Chad,
Sorry to be so slow to respond. I’ve been out of the loop and taking care of my family for a couple of weeks.
Here is a post that details out the coaches job description. Let me know if there is anything else you need!
