This past Sunday we celebrated with 29 kids as they went public with their faith in a special baptism service called Family Birthday Celebration. Hands down, FBC is the best part of my job. One of the coolest things we do for baptism is have kids tell their stories on video. There is NOTHING better than hearing a child tell about the decision they made to trust Jesus as their Savior and why they would like to be baptized. Each video is a glimpse into a child’s heart and a perfect expression of their individual personalities. Sometimes they’re funny and other times these young children show wisdom well beyond their years. But no matter what you are never the same after hearing their stories. Following the service, we have a big party for family and friends to reconnect. This week, so many people came to celebrate that we even ran out of cake- not an easy task! During the party I love to step back and watch everyone laughing and loving on the kids who were just baptized. Family Birthday Celebration is such a special way to mark the most important decision they will ever make in their lives and I am so glad I get to be a small part of it!

Just wanted to say that this is the most amazing thing I’ve seen in a long time…kids getting totally excited about their new life with Christ, families & small group leaders supporting & celebrating this decision with them! AWESOME

Does this take place during the worship service, or is it a special event? (it looks amazing!)

Hi Beckie,
It’s a special service that takes place on Sunday afternoon. Everyone is invited - but it is mostly attended by family, friends and UpStreet small group leaders. It’s a great service!
