What curriculum do you use in UpStreet?

UpStreet (K-5th grade)

We primarily use 252 Basics for our curriculum in UpStreet.

It’s important to decide in advance what you want your kids to KNOW and who you want them to BECOME as they go through their elementary years. Once you have decided that, then you have the grid for what you should teach your kids.

We think it’s incredibly important that the truth we teach our kids every week is relevant to their age and full of life application. We want our kids to grow up believing that the truth from God’s Word is real and applicable to every part of their life.

Our content flows from the following Three Basic Truths:

I can trust God no matter what - FAITH
I need to make the wise choice - WISDOM
I should treat others the way I want to be treated - FRIENDSHIP

We want our kids to know that they can TRUST GOD with everything in their life.  We want them to know that God’s Word teaches them the BEST way to live. And based on the way that God has treated them, we want them to learn how to treat other people.

Once a month, we meet together as a team to review and customize the content that we will be using in the months to come. Many times we use 252 Basics and make some minor tweaks.  Sometimes we use part of 252 Basics and create part of the content ourselves.  And rarely, we create content from scratch. Keeping in mind our three-year scope and sequence, we try to work about two months in advance. This gives us plenty of time to finalize materials and get them out to our volunteers in advance.

I know crafting the best message for our kids takes a ton of our time and is important to us.  We would love to know what you use and why.

We use our baptist publisher, Lifeway for Sunday School time and Group’s children’s worship material while the adults are in “big service”. I am in the beginning stages of reinventing our entire Children’s Ministries at Fall Creek Baptist in Indianapolis, IN. Your children’s ministry is one that I am researching. I welcome any help or direction.
    Thank you,
    Regina
