All too often, we get caught up in to-dos, milestones, and deadlines. There’s always something to be done, and just when that something is finished…it’s time to start something else.

On Monday of this week, the NP Web Team took the afternoon off. All of us. Together! We spent the afternoon playing. We went to a Race-kart track where we were able to hang out as a team away from the office.

Our “play date” didn’t come at an opportune time, either. We had just met a major deadline less than 24 hours before, and that deadline was met with MANY glitches. Was it crazy of us to play during one of the most stressful work weeks of 2009? You may think so. We didn’t.

Our time away from the office as a team came at just the right time. It was an opportunity for us to catch our breath, de-stress, and enjoy one another. Lately, we hadn’t seen much of our team members because everyone had his or her nose buried in work - and when we did see each other, we hardly had time for a “hello.”

Will projects ever stop coming? We hope not! Will times be stressful again? For sure, and they will come soon enough. But one thing is certain, the higher our stress level the more beneficial it is for us to take a break and play!
