Web Team

The organization is looking to replace our current church management system with a web-based application.  This system contains information about all of our member, attendees, and contributors.  The type of information in this system ranges from name, address, and telephone number to volunteer and small group involvement.

Because of the move to a web-based church management system and some restructuring in our IT department a few months ago - Gidget Johnson, Ashly Tucker, and Angie LaMattina have joined the North Point Ministries Web Team.  I am excited to have them as part of our group.  The new church management system will be much more convenient and helpful for our staff and will provide some great new features for our volunteers, members, and attendees.

Anjanette Paul joins our team tomorrow. Anjanette is going to be our Web Project Manager.  She brings many years of experience in project management with her and will help us tremendously.

Because of the additions to our team, we all moved office (cube) locations this week.  All of our team members are in one area now.  I think this will encourage communication and teamwork.  I’m also glad we were able to keep our web planning room for team meetings and meetings with the other ministries.

I’m very thankful for our new team members and new office locations.

Any chance you can convince F1 to develop a Mac-based check in system? (I’m assuming you are going with F1. If not, who?)
By the way, I’m planning to migrate our organization to Google Apps. Any advice?

F1 didn’t make it to our short list of options for our new church management system. The final decision about which application we are going to use has not been made.

IT handled the migration to Google Apps. I’ll encourage them to write a post about it.

The web department does use the Google Apps services (email, docs, calendar, etc.) provided by IT and they work great.

We have used Google Forms in some places, and it works well. It is beta of course. If you create a Google Form, I’d try to avoid making any changes after you release it.

We are also looking at some web-based chms solutions. Who made your “short list?” We are planning on considering FellowshipOne but would be interested in learning why you don’t see it as a fit for you. Thanks for any input you can provide.

Chris - you’ll notice that Gidget officially announced that we chose Arena for our ChMS. She’ll be able to give you more input about why we chose that over F1.
