Volunteers

Guest Services relies heavily upon volunteers. Without people who understand and are passionate about our vision and mission, we would never be able to create the environment for guests we do.

Our basic volunteer roles are:

  • Coordinator - This volunteer leads volunteer Captains and acts as the go-to person during the entire service inside or outside the building.
  • Captain – This volunteer acts as the first go-to person for volunteers, leads a specific team of volunteers through the details of a Sunday, and cares for his/her team.
  • Outside Guest Services Volunteer – This volunteer welcomes, informs, and serves our guests in the parking lot by directing people and cars to the right places.
  • Host Team Volunteer – This volunteer welcomes, informs, and serves our guests at the entrances to our building and auditorium and throughout the hallways.
  • Usher Volunteer – This volunteer welcomes, informs, and serves our guests in the auditorium by helping them find the best seat and collecting the offering.
  • Information Center Volunteer – This volunteer welcomes, informs, and serves our guests at the Information Center by answering questions and taking people where they need to be.

We have organized our church’s environments into three categories:

  1. Foyer environments are designed for guests. Our goal for the foyer is that people would enjoy it and return.
  2. Living room environments are for people to meet friends. In the living room we want people to connect.
  3. Kitchen environments are where people become family. In the kitchen, we want people to experience community.

Our volunteer teams are our primary Living Room environment. We don’t want volunteers to just fulfill a function. We want friendships to form and grow as people serve along side of each other. The Captain is responsible for his/her team and creating ways to cultivate friendships. They pray together, plan activities outside of their normal volunteering time, and constantly look for ways to grow friendships.

Recruiting

Recruiting new Guest Services volunteers happens several ways. Once a year, our campuses have a Sunday where we talk in the adult worship environment about serving and being a part of our vision. Many new volunteers are recruited this way. We also rely on existing volunteers to recruit their friends, small group members, etc. to serve with them. Another way new volunteers sign up is through our NEXT environment, which is a brief meeting that tells people what their next steps can be in getting involved at one of our campuses.

Training

We are currently evaluating and recreating our Guest Services volunteer training environment. Check back soon for updates.
